MIKHAIL ZEMTSOV

LATIN AMERICA

 

He began musical studies at the age of 5 under the tutelage of his mother. Later he studied viola and composition at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory (with Profs. G.Odinets and T. Tchudova), obtained Soloist Diplomas with Distinction from the ABRSM (Mexico-England, Prof. B. Dinerstein), the Hochs-chüle für Musik of Hamburg, Germany (Prof. M. Nichetianu) and the Maastricht Conservatory, Holland (Prof. M. Kugel). He completed the Master's Degree in Orchestral Conducting at the Lithuanian National Academy of Music with Maestro Juozas Domarkas; participated in master classes with Masters Neeme and Paavo Järvi, Gianandrea Noseda and Lev Markiz.

 

Mikhail Zemtsov performed as a soloist with the Chamber Orchestra of the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, the Philharmonic Orchestras of Lima, Luxembourg, UNAM, the National Symphony Orchestras of Mexico, Estonia and Lithuania, Stavanger Symphony Orchestra (Norway), Hamburg (Germany ), Ontario (Canada); Folksoper (Vienna, Austria) de la Residencia (Holland) under the baton of Neeme Järvi, Jaap van Zweden, Dmitri Kitajenko, Ilan Volkov, Da-vid Shallon and Leif Segerstam.

His most recent recording for the Chandos company appeared in 2016 with Martinů's Rhapsody-Concert with the Estonian National Orchestra under the baton of Neeme Järvi; it was highly appreciated by the international press, such as the British magazine Gramophone.

 

He works as viola teacher at the Utrecht Conservatory and the Royal Conservatory of The Hague (Holland). He has given master classes and has been a member of the jury in International Competitions in Europe, America and the Far East. Mikhail is Artistic Director of the Utrecht Conservatory Strings and the Young Talent Symphony Orchestra of the Rotterdam Conservatory.
