ALFREDO OVALLES

GENERAL MANAGEMENT

Born in Caracas, Venezuela, Alfredo's beginnings with music came at a very young age. According to his father, he asked for piano lessons as a gift for his fifth birthday. Not from a musical family, his first experience of what a piano sounded like came not from classical music, but from an old tape of a Queen concert that had always been in the family home.

Alfredo began his formal musical education with Professor Carlos Urbaneja at the “Juan José Landaeta” Conservatory of Music and at the Mozarteum Music School in Caracas, and at the same time also gained a great deal of valuable experience playing keyboards, arranging and writing songs. in rock and pop bands in Caracas. For Alfredo, "growing up within seemingly different universes made music seem like one world, where borders were very blurred and performances in one genre could be informed by experiences gained on a different, seemingly unrelated type of stage."

Alfredo is highly sought after as a soloist and chamber musician internationally. His engagements have taken him to Belarus, Germany, Poland, Romania, Spain, and the Dominican Republic, among others, performing in such wonderful venues as the Berliner Philharmonie, the Wiener Konzerthaus, and the King's Place in London. He had the pleasure of performing solo recitals but also with orchestras such as the Polish Baltic Philharmonic Orchestra in Gdansk, the Orchestra of the Academic and Musical Theater of Minsk, Belarus, the Symphony Orchestra of the Autonomous University of Nuevo León and the National Symphony Orchestra of the Dominican Republic.

Alfredo also studied in the United States with Krassimira Jordan at the Baylor University School of Music, and then moved to Vienna, Austria, where he did graduate studies with Thomas Kreuzberger at the University of Music and Performing Arts. Along with this, he has also received advice from artists such as Gabriela Montero, Anton Nel, Walter Blankenheim and Kristiina Juntuu.

Parallel to his studies, Alfredo actively participated in various international competitions, receiving awards such as the First Prize in the VIII “Franz Schubert” International Competition in Bulgaria and the Second Prizes in the IV “Maria Clara Cullell International Piano Competition” in San José de Costa Rica and the 14th Osaka International Music Competition in Japan.

Due to his endless desire for musical experimentation, Alfredo spends much of his time working with composers and performing premieres of pieces written for him or in collaboration with groups such as Diaspora Duo, Green Thing Ensemble and The Black Page Orchestra.
